About Us
Lions Specialty Club Nederland voor Armenië was established in response to the humanitarian crisis that emerged in Artsakh in September 2023. Following a devastating nine-month blockade, approximately 120,000 people were compelled to flee their homes and country, leaving behind everything created by them, their parents, and their ancestors. In the aftermath of this displacement, the dire socio-economic and psychological situation became evident, especially for families with children who now found themselves in a devastating situation, facing uncertainty and challenges.
Our organisation is driven by a deep commitment to empower these families and ensure a brighter future for their children. We firmly believe that by providing support, creating opportunities, and fostering a nurturing environment, we can make a significant impact on the lives of these families. Our focus extends beyond immediate relief to a more comprehensive goal – that of enabling families to bring up their children in a positive and enriching atmosphere, thereby giving them a nice and safe childhood.
Through various projects and initiatives, Lions Specialty Club Nederland voor Armenië strives to address the fundamental needs of these families. We understand that a secure and supportive childhood lays the foundation for a successful and fulfilling life. By working collaboratively with our community, volunteers, and supporters, we aim to contribute not only to the immediate well-being of these families but also to the long-term development and happiness of their children. Together, we envision a future where every child has the opportunity to grow up in a loving, caring, and safe environment, allowing them to reach their full potential.
Our Mission
Empowering large families to thrive, our mission is to help create an environment that fosters favorable conditions, supporting them to acquire the essential resources needed to nurture and provide their children with the fulfilling childhood they rightfully deserve.
About Artsakh
An Urgent Situation in Artsakh: A Call for International Attention.
Artsakh, also known as Nagorno-Karabakh, is a region steeped in history and a complex geopolitical landscape. However, behind this historical context lies a dire reality that currently warrants the world's attention.
Located in the South Caucasus, Artsakh has been entangled in a long-standing sovereignty conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan. This territorial dispute intensified into a fierce war in 2020, resulting in part of the region falling under Azerbaijani control.
The Current Humanitarian Crisis
The unfortunate events of 2020 led to an even more dire situation in September 2023, as approximately 120,000 people were forced to flee their homes and ancestral lands. They left behind everything they had built, seeking refuge in Armenia as a place that, while becoming their new home, was unprepared for such tragic events. Regrettably, many of these families still struggle to access essential living conditions, including housing, medical assistance, education, and more.
